Courage and Croissants, Inspiring Joyful Living, A Story and Life Guidebook set in San Francisco and the south of France, is a story and life guidebook featuring a dual-career professional couple with a young daughter who took the risk to go in search of what was truly important to them. At its heart is a love of family and the desire for quality of life. This book will inspire you to manifest your dreams and provide immediate actions you can take to create a life of good health, balance and joy.
Candid and inspiring, Suzanne and Jean- Pierre willingly acknowledge that the American Dream, as they were brought up to believe, has changed and the cost to one’s family, one’s health, and one’s own well-being can only be sustained for a period of time, not for 40 years or more. Along with millions of stressed out, busy professionals, Suzanne and Jean tell a great story and provide a life guidebook that is full of courageous and simple changes that can help us all create the lifestyles we want to live wherever we are.
Suzanne and Jean are late baby boomers, highly educated professionals who had a daughter late in life after 17 years of marriage. They have a life many would envy, but it hasn’t helped them live the life they so desire – a perfectly balanced life. What they have learned by living in a small village in the south of France is that there are many simple ways to bring joie de vivre into your daily family life and at the same time some changes require a great deal of courage and patience, but all are possible.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Stop! You're not raising a child...You're raising afuture adult! Can you see what's wrong with this picture? There's a child where an adult should be. And that's the point. We speak in terms of 'raising children,' but the thought we need to keep 'front and center' is that we're raising future adults.
We interviewed numerous successful adults in search of common themes. We studied their life stories and compared them to biographies of other well-known high-achievers. A pattern emerged. Successful adults share a common background, something we call the Four Foundations of Adult Achievement.
In the parenting book, What Kids Need to Succeed, these principles are illustrated through inspiring stories that help parents think about ways to prepare their own children for a bright future. When you lay the groundwork for these foundations, your children start to develop attitudes and habits shared by successful adults.
What are the Four Foundations? We thought you'd never ask:
1. Refuse to Fail
2. Work Hard
3. Develop Discipline
4. Give Back
Other parenting books seem to have pushed aside values, ethics, and child discipline in favor of focusing on giving your children self-esteem. But you can't give your kids self-esteem - it comes from within. THEY have to develop it. It's our job to help them do that. The Four Foundations set the stage for growing confident, competent adults.
There's a lot of parenting help and advice available. And it's loaded with contradictions. Some of that parenting advice can backfire and you won't know it until it's too late.
We'll show you how to avoid the "deadly sins" of parenting:
1. Treating your child as an equal
2. Overindulging - especially the "wants"
3. Forgetting to teach them about consequences, or
4. Simply not taking action when you should
The good news is: it's NOT too late to start teaching the Four Foundations. The sooner the better. And, it doesn't matter if you have 1 kid or 12, whether they call you "Mom," "Dad," "Nana," or "Papa" - nor does it matter if you're a foster parent or grandparent. If you're entrusted with raising a future adult (what you used to think of as raising a child or raising children) you can start today. We'll show you how to instill the simple - not 'easy' - ideas which will set your children apart as they grow up.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
What Kids Need to Succeed: Four Foundations of Adult Achievement was authored by father-daughter team Harry S. Patten and Andrea Patten.
Harry developed the sales skills that are the foundation for his business by selling Kirby vacuum cleaners door-to-door. Since 1962, this self-made millionaire has become the foremost buyer and seller of rural and recreational land in America. He is a father and a grandfather.
Throughout her life, Andrea Patten has distinguished herself as a creative problem-solver. In addition to being a Mom, she has spent most of her adult life working in human services, both in the public and private sectors. Her particular area of expertise requires an entrepreneurial mind as she has played a key role in helping organizations bring such innovations as bilingual programming, family treatment and networking for comprehensive client care. Andrea is a licensed addictions counselor who has worked in substance abuse treatment, child protection and domestic violence settings.
"My work as a family advocate exposed me to a wide variety of families and problems. I'm fascinated by the ways they choose to solve them. My favorite part of direct service work was always helping people to identify and connect with the well of optimism and strength inside of them. That's one of the reasons I like the Four Foundations so much. The four foundations not only remind people of what they are capable of, they serve as a way to filter and prioritize information and ideas: I think there's something for every family here."
"Teaming with my father to write What Kids Need to Succeed was a tremendous growth opportunity for me. It took me out of a familiar role and allowed me to reach families in an entirely new manner. I think that this book can provide hope to any family, regardless of their circumstances."
When her son was young she took a break from human services and went to work in the marketing department of her family’s business. There she discovered more similarities."I've always had a gift for seeing the common ground between issues, organizations or departments that appear, on the surface, to be very different from one another. It's easy for me to find areas of overlap that allow them to work together. Whether an organization offers a product or a service, its message needs to be presented in a way which best serves its intended audience. That's one of the reasons I like the Four Foundations so much."
Andrea and her co-author father have always been interested in helping projects (and people) develop to their fullest potential. Andrea works with organizations to tailor programs, workshops, and keynote addresses to meet their unique needs. In addition, the pair have provided numerous copies of What Kids Need to Succeed to well-run organizations serving kids and families.

What woman hasn’t wished she could erase painful life events, challenging circumstances, and haunting memories?? But what if, instead, every woman had the courage to unveil the truth behind her story and look for the redemption on that path?
Patricia Bonelli’s “Owning Patricia”, is a raw, tender inspirational true story of a grown woman retracing her youthful missteps into darkness. Bonelli’s purpose of fully embracing her story, owning who she was in the past, in order to command her life in the present, provides inspiration for anyone who might themselves dare to illuminate a less than pristine past.
She writes, “By the age of 12, I found myself left to my own devices…With no sense of who I was or how I would provide for myself, I chose a series of degrading and desperate corridors to walk through.” Life as an out-of-control runaway living on the streets paved the way to prostitution and entrapment (“I had a seventh-grade education and the only way I knew how to make money was on my back.”); leading to being “rescued” by becoming the domestic partner of a drug runner. By age 23, Bonelli was a single mother of three, requiring refuge in the Witness Protection Program.
As Bonelli tells her tale of transcending her early circumstances to lead a rewarding life and successful career in law enforcement, and becoming the mother to her children that was never modeled for her, readers witness the unstoppable determination of a woman proving her worth and prioritizing connection to those she cares about.
At each chapter’s end, Bonelli has worked her memoir into a self-help format, providing thought-provoking questions for the reader to journal about. Bonelli is a seeker and a sage, showing how she transformd her life--and hopes to help others do the same--in a book that readers won’t put down, without learning life-lessons of their own along the way.
Bonelli invites readers into her story by saying, “Sometimes we need to relate our stories to one another to share the tragedies we have faced in life. We gain comfort in knowing we are not alone. There are universal struggles we each face with abandonment, rejection, loss, though through different unique sets of circumstances. By telling the unedited version of my story, I have realized, at a deep level, how much I have in common with women everywhere.”
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
An adopted child from birth, Patricia Bonelli lost the happy innocence of childhood early. Being gang-raped at age 13 was merely the beginning of trouble stalking her at every turn: A school dropout in seventh grade. A runaway living on the streets. A prostitute for a pimp. A single teenage mother. All of this, she had experienced by the tender age of 18.
In 1984, Bonelli began working as a parole/probation officer at San Quentin prison, counseling criminal offenders whose choices, like her own history, had led them to desperate places. “I was tough with them, but I also had bottomless empathy and caring for these people because of where I came from.”
Patricia retired after 20 years in Law Enforcement and relocated from San Francisco to Maui, Hawaii, where she wrote her inspirational true story of courage and redemption, "Owning Patricia: A Story of Breaking Free", about her life as a teenage prostitute and single mother, to her triumph over adversity, and how she forged a successful career.
In 1998, Bonelli became a certified Life Coach, Mentor, and Motivational Speaker. Bonelli believes it is possible to overcome any hurdle in life by combining faith and optimism. She has appeared on numerous radio and TV shows around the country. Her passion is working on the The Affinity Center, a charitable foundation for young women in need of safe harbor. Money from proceeds of "Owning Patricia" will be used as seed money for a retreat center where young women will be inspired, educated, and motivated about how to pursue their life goals.
Patricia Bonelli was born in San Francisco, California. She graduated from St. Mary's College in 1992 with a degree in Business Administration. She completed a Bachelor's Degree at Sonoma State in 1989, in Psychology and Criminology.
Patricia is the mother of 4 adult children, 3 daughters and one son. She resides in Laguna Beach, California.

Our ultimate diet and fitness journal helps retrain your brain and body to achieve your goals, improving your state of mind and physical well being. And, it's adaptable for different programs. Currently in its third print run this year!
User Reviews:
“This is quite possibly the best thing I have ever bought in regards to my diet and fitness plans. Since starting writing down my caloric/fat intake and the calories I burn, I have lost 20 lbs. It helps so much to see what I am doing to my body!! I intend to lose 30 more and I KNOW this is going to help me! I am buying another one as a gift to my work out buddy!” – Hooves, college student, Amazon.com
“Great journal! I bought one and turned around and bought a bunch more. I will be using this one for quite a while. It’s a nice shape, not too wide but has enough room to write everything.
The pages are broken down how I eat...3 meals and 3 snacks. I use the bodybugg and this journal works well with it, as it gives me a place to record my deficit. It would also work well with Weight Watchers, as it gives your an extra column to record what you want (like pts).” – J. Smith, Amazon.com
“Useful little book. Nice size because it can fit easily into a purse or bag and stiff cover keeps it in better condition if you drag it about with you. I use it nearly everyday (I feel so virtuous ;) and keeping track of what I eat definitely makes me think before I stuff. I've even lost five pounds...” – MaidMarion, barnesandnoble.com
“First things first, the diet and fitness journal orange and blue front is only a packaging label. It comes completely off and then you have a really nice, fake leather diet journal. All of the other diet journals I found were really obvious about being a...DIET JOURNAL! I bring this thing everywhere and don't want everyone to know it's my diet journal. It looks kind of classy without writing all over it…This is an AWESOME book and I really hope they keep selling them, because I will buy one every time I run out of entries.” – Luke Deandrade, Amazon.com
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
In 2005, after a life-long battle with obesity, Claudine decided enough was enough. Not willing to go the surgery route and wanting to do what was best for her health, she worked hard and through diet and exercise lost 172 lbs. She retrained her brain (and stomach!) to accept smaller portions and substitutions and eventually went from short walks to jogging, personal training sessions, nutrition sessions, and working out with weights. She shares her favorite tips in her Diet & Fitness Journal’s introduction and information pages.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Who. Am. I.
Good question. But one, I assume you want to know, or you likely wouldn’t have clicked this link.
Let’s see.
I’m a mother.
Of three (mostly) wonderful kids who desperately want a mom who buys them Lunchables. And Doritos. And Coke. And who buys strawberries whether they’re in season or not.
Instead, they have me.
I’m a writer.
Of books. A zillion magazine articles, focusing mostly on environmental and social issues but occasionally veering into such territory as why I love my cottage bike or why I’m proud of my tough feet. Clearly, I tend toward narcissism.
I’m a blogger.
On this and other wonderful sites, such as Gaiam, GreenMuze and Health and Harmony.
I’m a speaker and media personality (whatever that is).
I’ve taken my eco-gig to dozens of consumer shows, businesses, television viewers, radio listeners, schools and associations. I love little more than sharing my energy and enthusiasm for living a life that celebrates our world and the people in it.
I’m an environmentalist.
It took me a long time to call myself that. I was convinced that the real environmentalists would call me out and point to my overstuffed closet or my swimming pool and reveal me as a total fraud. Time and experience in this brave new age of eco-awareness has offered up perspective. I work hard to create change to ensure that the world my Doritos-seeking children inherit will be worth a damn.
I’m a volunteer.
I’m a sucker for a good cause and have, over the years, donated time, money, books and – dare I say it? – my talent to organizations that focus on the environment, poverty, homelessness, mental health issues, AIDS in Africa, mentoring girls, arts exposure for children, animal rescue and more. So many causes, so little time.
I’m a pet owner.
I currently share my home with seven pets – all rescues from various circumstances. All wonderful. Though I wish my 21-year-old cat was a bit better at remembering where his litter box was.
I’m an incurable optimist.
Though I occasionally plunge into despair (climate change! Species extinction! Child labor!), I inevitably pick myself up and remember that the world is poised for positive change. I remind myself that hope is a verb with its sleeved rolled up. And there’s work to be done.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS: We didn’t always live healthy. We drank Mountain Dew and consumed way too much sugar (and probably still do!). We turned to conventional medicine to solve all of our problems (but found it couldn't!). Dr. Sue struggled with multiple miscarriages and Angelle suffered from depression and severe PMS. Individually we found answers to our health problems by changing our diets and using holistic medicine. When each of us became moms and held our new babies, like every mom, we realized the most important thing in life is a happy healthy child. Years later our paths crossed. We were each supporting moms and helping children heal, but realized we needed to reach more moms for more children to live happier healthier lives and so NourishMD.com was born
SUSAN MCCREADIE, as a board certified pediatrician specializing in holistic medicine, my vision is to heal children with any illness, naturally. During my training as a medical doctor and pediatrician, I witnessed many children benefiting from the advancement of western medicine; however I also realized that many children’s health care issues go beyond the traditional medical paradigm. After completing my chief resident year in pediatrics, I started Pediatric Holistic Medicine, PLC. I continue to learn daily how to help myself and others heal; it’s a journey and lifelong passion, and I love every minute of it.
ANGELLE BATTEN holds a B.A. from the University of Detroit in Elementary Education and an MEd. from Wayne State University in Education Administration. She is also certified as a Holistic Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, which is a state-licensed nutrition school in New York City. The most important thing for parents is to raise healthy, happy children, but they don't know how to get there. As a health coach, Angelle walks parents through an increasingly challenging and confusing path to create health and happiness for their families.
ABOUT NOURISHMD.COM “We are what we eat!” We’ve all heard that before. Instead we say, “We are what we consume.” Whether that be from the food and drink we digest, the air we breathe, or the products we put on our skin - it all makes up who we are. In today’s world, we are bombarded with toxins to process, from food, water, air, and all the products we use (soap, shampoo, cleaners, sunscreen, bug spray). The list is endless. Our goal is to reduce our family’s toxic burden. How? By eating REAL organic and local food, drinking purified water, and reducing our exposure to toxins. That’s a tall order, but we believe it is necessary to maintain optimal health.
We created NourishMD.com to educate and inspire moms to feed their children REAL food for health and to empower moms to find natural solutions for their children with medical, emotional, and/or learning difficulties. As a holistic pediatrician and a holistic health counselor/elementary teacher, we are passionate about creating healthier, happier lives for all children. As trained healthcare professionals, we bring our collective knowledge and expertise to the NourishMD.com community. As moms ourselves, we bring our far-from-perfect REAL life experience as well. Together we strive to create a vision of how to raise and heal children naturally, and in doing so help ourselves and other moms realize we can incorporate REAL food and healthy living into our busy lifestyles everyday.
ABOUT THE BOOK: This book describes a trend that may be the biggest change agent of this decade. As a critical mass of women all over the world are becoming financially powerful enough to stand on their own two feet, they are tipping the global power balance and changing the rules of the family, the workplace, the marketplace, and business and political leadership. This book isn’t just about the facts but what the facts add up to, including: • How women’s rise to power impacts money, markets, and men: the past, present, and future. • The three stages of women’s financial power: 1) security, 2) independence, and 3) influence. • How women will pioneer the opportunities and challenges of the longevity revolution. • The new female-driven “cyclic” work/life paradigm. • How women are rewriting the rules of success. • How the evolving female/male equation changes the rules and roles at home and at work. • An examination of women’s multiplying marketplace clout and how successful companies are responding.
This groundbreaking new book is filled with breakthrough research findings, marketplace insights, and inspirational stories of trendsetting women from all over the globe. It’s not a feminist treatise, but rather,\ argues that men will also benefit greatly from the changes economic parity will bring. After decades of building up their earning power, women have begun unleashing their influence on the world to everyone’s benefit.

Dinner with kids shouldn’t be a battleground. And it shouldn’t make a martyr out of the parent whose job it is to get it on the table fast, fresh and hot every day at 6 PM. Aviva Goldfarb’s cheerful Scramble system takes the hassle and worry out of mealtime. Her readers rely on her organized grocery lists, weekly meal plans and fast and easy recipes not just for the healthy dinners themselves, but for taking the stress out of dinnertime. She wants families to actually enjoy their dinners together!
Building on the major success of the first SCRAMBLE cookbook, SOS!THE SIX O’CLOCK SCRAMBLE TO THE RESCUE: Earth-Friendly, Kid-Pleasing Dinners for Busy Families is taking an extra of-the-moment stress away from meal planning for busy families: concern about the environment, about the cost of shipping out-of-season food halfway around the world and about needlessly wasted food.
SOS: THE SIX O’CLOCK SCRAMBLE TO THE RESCUE: Earth-Friendly, Kid-Pleasing Dinners for Busy Families: • Helps readers eat seasonally without missing their favorite foods • Moves toward a slightly more vegetarian menu for health and a lighter environmental footprint • Reveals when organic matters (and when it doesn’t) and follows what’s in season • Saves money through easy, efficient planning, bulk buying, freezing and storing, and avoiding waste • Packs the power of achievable ethnic meals, such as Moo Shu Vegetable Wraps and Brazilian Halibut with Coconut-Lime Sauce • Makes grocery trips count with suggestions for weekly plans and shopping lists
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Like many busy moms, Aviva Goldfarb struggled to put a nutritious dinner on the table for her family amidst the chaos of daily life. Going back to the weekly meal planning strategy her mother used, in 2003 Aviva developed a system that helps parents take the Scramble out of the dinner hour by giving them an easy, online meal planning and grocery shopping system, along with fail-proof recipes.
The Six O'Clock Scramble (www.thescramble.com) is an online service that takes the stress out of daily dinners for busy families. Each week, members receive a suggested seasonal meal plan with five days' worth of dinner recipes, side dishes, and an organized grocery list. Aviva develops quick-to-prepare meals that are creative, healthy, unprocessed and kid-friendly without being adult-alienating. This weekly meal plan can be customized in seconds based on families’ tastes, schedules and dietary needs.
Aviva’s Six O'Clock Scramble Cookbook debuted in 2006 to national acclaim. Both the cookbook and online meal planning service won praise from reviewers at O Magazine, Working Mother, USA Today, Real Simple and The Washington Post, among many others.
Debuting in April 2010, Aviva’s latest cookbook SOS! The Six O’Clock Scramble to the Rescue: Earth-Friendly, Kid-Pleasing Dinners for Busy Families combines her expertise in weekly dinnertime meal planning with her concern for the environment. In addition to more than 300 recipes, the book addresses how families can make their meals more environmentally-friendly, including buying seasonally; reducing one’s carbon footprint with vegetable-based meals; differentiating when organic matters and offering tips for avoiding food waste.
Aviva is frequently quoted in national parenting, lifestyle and health magazines and appears regularly on television to discuss healthful recipes and meal strategies for busy families. She is an advocate for healthy families, actively working with national nonprofit organizations and with parents to improve nutrition.
Aviva is a mother of two and resides with her family in Chevy Chase, Maryland, a Washington, DC suburb.

Living the Law of Attraction You've seen The Secret. You've heard about it on Oprah. Maybe you've even read books on the Law of Attraction. But as they say, "The proof is in the pudding!" In this book, you’ll read real-life accounts of success stories from people who are truly Living the Law of Attraction. How do people put the principles of the Law of Attraction to work for themselves? How do ordinary people manifest extraordinary things in their lives? You will notice that those who have applied this law into their everyday lives are experiencing what used to be considered miracles. What was once miraculous is now commonplace ... everyday miracles.
You'll read amazing stories of healing ... how people recovered from life-threatening illnesses and near-death experiences. You’ll be inspired by the courage people have to transform their lives in order to realize their dreams. You’ll applaud the strength of those who have overcome adversity to triumph in life. And in case you didn’t before, you will truly understand how the Law of Attraction is always working for you.
There are many excellent books written by powerful teachers discussing the Law of Attraction. This book, as the title implies, is about the application of the law. It will show you that anyone in any situation, regardless of age, sex, economic background, or past negative experiences can practice it and experience greater levels of happiness, love, and abundance.
"We are all incredibly powerful manifesters ... we just need to apply the principles."- Rich German
How to Talk to Your Kids About the Law of Attraction In the process of writing our book, Living the Law of Attraction, Real Stories of People Manifesting Health, Wealth and Happiness, we talked to many, many people about their personal experiences with the Law of Attraction. We quickly picked up on a common underlying sentiment. “I wish I had learned about this when I was much younger. My life would have been so different!” And, “How can I teach this to my kids so they have this knowledge even from an early age?”
Then I read something my friend Cindy Day wrote in her book, The Life of Your Dreams in 30 Days or Less. She wrote, “From birth, we were taught by others who weren’t aware of the Law of Attraction. We were taught all wrong! Which means, we need to forget what we’ve been taught!” That really made me think. What have I really been telling my kids for the past 17 years? What message have I been sending? And then I realized, what an opportunity! I have the knowledge and tools to potentially change the course of my children’s lives forever.
That's why I wrote this book. Everyone agrees. Parents need a new script! In this eBook, you'll find:
In simple terms, what is the Law of Attraction?
How to talk about Feelings
The importance of Gratitude
How to talk about Wishes
Fun "games" and "exercises" to do with your children
Real-life stories from kids and teens
And much more!
